Have you ever wondered who's on call when our customers need service? Our service technicians specialize in energy services, and you may have spotted one of our service trucks cruising down the road!
Let's meet John and Kolton, two valued team members at Centra Sota whose primary role is handling propane service calls. Keep reading to learn about a typical day on the job as they work together to remove an old propane tank and install a new one.
Their first task involves disconnecting all the previous lines attached to the old tank. Once that's completed, they proceed to move the old tank out of the way.
Once the old tank is relocated, they carefully lay out bricks and level the ground to ensure the new propane tank sits evenly. This step is crucial for accurate gauge readings, which are essential for safety and for Centra Sota to monitor tank levels for refills.
Next, they carefully place the new propane tank on the level surface. Then they begin transferring propane from the old tank to the new one using hoses, ensuring the new tank is filled to approximately 80% capacity for safety.
After finishing the propane transfer, they replace the old regulator with a new one and complete the hookup process. Once everything is securely in place inside and outside, and the new tank is accurately installed, they load the old tank back onto the truck.
The old tank will undergo sanding and repainting. Interestingly, all tanks are lightly colored for safety reasons. Lighter colors reflect heat, preventing propane expansion to dangerous levels. Painting tanks in darker colors would lead to heat absorption, posing potential risks.
Thank you John and Kolton for sharing their insights into their service calls. We value their contributions, along with those of all our service technicians. Centra Sota takes pride in being a trusted propane and fuel supplier!
